annodev Software

annodev software — independent custom software development. Specialist in medical, GIS, and civic systems. Backend-first: C# / .NET / PostgreSQL / Microsoft SQL Server, with React / TypeScript, Kotlin, and Swift capability when projects need them. Thirty years of shipping production code across Europe and worldwide.

Independent software engineering. Thirty years of shipping things that have to keep working long after the kickoff is forgotten.

Selected projects.
Built. Maintained. Still running.

A handful of long-lived systems across civic infrastructure, geospatial tooling, and clinical software. Details on request — most are under NDA.

2019 — Ongoing

City Operations Platform

Permits, citizen requests, and field crew dispatch for a mid-sized municipality. Replaced a stack of 90s green-screens with a single tool that the planning office actually likes.

Municipal · Web + iOS
2014 — Ongoing

GIS / Mapping Suite

Custom geospatial tooling for surveyors and utility crews: vector tile pipelines, offline-first field collection, and reconciliation against authoritative cadastral data.

Geospatial · Android + Backend
2017 — Ongoing

Clinical Workflow & Records

HIPAA-compliant patient records, ordering, and lab integration for a network of specialty clinics. Boring on purpose. Audit-clean. Built to outlive anyone.

Medical · Full stack

Others

Whatever the client actually needs. Payments, logistics dispatch, embedded telemetry — if it can be built, I can build it.

What I do.
End to end. No handoffs.

Each engagement runs from architecture through delivery to the long tail of maintenance. I work alone, or with a small trusted team — whichever serves the project.

Custom software development

Bespoke systems for specific problems. Built for the actual operating environment, not the demo.

Decide the right shape before any line of code is written. Constraints, trade-offs, failure modes, the lot — written down and agreed.

Backend development

APIs, data layers, queues, schedulers. Boring, deterministic infrastructure that runs unattended for years.

Interfaces that respect their operators. Considered, fast, accessible. No design-by-committee dashboards.

Native and Kotlin Multiplatform apps. Particular interest in offline-first, field-data, and ruggedized device workflows.

Native Swift for the platform's strengths. SwiftUI where it earns its place, UIKit where it doesn't.

03 — FAQ

Common questions.

If something isn't here, ask directly. I prefer specific questions to generic intros.

Do you work solo or with a team?
Mostly solo — that's the point of annodev. I'll design the architecture, write the code, ship it, and support it. For larger engagements I assemble a small trusted bench: one or two engineers I've worked with for years.
What size of project do you take on?
Anything from a focused two-week spike (architecture review, prototype, technical due diligence) to multi-year platform builds. Smaller engagements often turn into longer ones if the fit is right.
How do you price?
Daily or weekly rate, billed monthly. Fixed-scope for clearly bounded work. No hourly micro-billing — it incentivises the wrong things. We'll talk numbers after a discovery call so I can give you a real estimate rather than a guess.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes, mutual NDAs are standard. I've signed enough of them that most of my best work isn't on this page.
What does "30 years" actually mean?
I shipped my first commercial system in the mid-90s and haven't stopped since. The trade has changed shape three or four times in that span; the principles haven't moved much. I'm useful when you want someone who's seen the same problem in three different decades.
Do you build medical / HIPAA-compliant software?
Yes. Clinical workflow, patient records, ordering, and lab integration are a long-running specialty. Every system is built audit-clean from day one.
Do you do GIS and offline-first mobile work?
Yes. Vector tile pipelines, field-collection apps for surveyors and utility crews, and reconciliation against authoritative cadastral data.
Where are you based / what timezones?
Europe by default. I overlap comfortably with anything from US East Coast to APAC mornings. Async-first; calls scheduled, not surprise.
